This mosque, still in use, is the largest in Punganur. The region also flourished agriculturally under the tanks constructed during the Zamindars' reign. Education was a priority too, with the Basava Raja Government High School established in 1881 by Sri Raja Veera Basava Chikka Royal Yasovantha Bahadurvaru, making it the third oldest school in the district after those in Tirupati and Chittoor.
