Ghatshila was ruled over by Bengali communities during the middle period of Indian history. They were later expelled by Dhalbhum Dynasty, who established Ghatshila as their capital. Yuvraj is the title given to the oldest son of the ruling monarch. Dhalbhum Raja Jagannath built the "Rankini Mandir" at Galudih. However, it was moved to Ghatshila several years later with all its associates. This region was under the Rajas of Dhalbhum, who were able to keep their control until colonial British rule.
