Samsher Khan built a small fort called Shamshergarh, named after himself. Initially, it served as a Mughal check-post but later became a part of the Bundela kingdom of Datia. Samthar Fort is surrounded by a moat and features three-tiered battlements, gun emplacements, and nearly three concentric layers of walls. The central residential section of the fort incorporates elements of European design, making it architecturally unique. Besides the fort, Samthar is home to beautiful temples and a recently restored baoli or stepwell, adding to its historical charm and cultural significance.
