Once served as the capital of Vijayanagara Empire the city was the second largest city in the world at that time. Now the ruins of the city tells the stories of its existing structures, along with the beautiful glimpse of the city by the boulders that are surrounded the city can be seen, also many a visitor climb atop the Matangaparvata and get a glimpse of Hampi and its environs. .
