Built in the 11th century AD by King Nalaparaju this temple was later renovated by the Chola King Kulothunga. It is believed that this temple holds as much spiritual significance as 108 Tirupati temples. Within the temple grounds lies the shrine of Goddess Rajyalakshmi which adds to the divine aura of the place. The temple also celebrates the Rathotsavam festival with great devotion. According to legends a Brahmin named Kesavaiah who had no children used to visit holy shrines with his brother-in-law Govindudu adding a beautiful touch to the town’s spiritual heritage.
