Sabalgarh is a small town in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. It was founded by a Gurjar named Raja Sabal Singh Gurjar, who lived near the Chambal River close to Karauli. A dam, known as the ‘Bandh,’ was built behind the fort during the Scindia rule. The fort itself was built on a cliff by Gopal Singh, the Raja of Karauli. During its history, Sikandar Lodhi sent an army to take control of the fort. Later, the Marathas recaptured it during their campaigns in northern India and handed it back to the Raja of Karauli.
